Microneedling Explained
At Dr Leonie Aesthetics, we use the XCellaris Pro Microneedling Device, designed with German engineering to deliver safe, sterile, and consistent results.
Microneedling is often referred to as collagen induction therapy. It stimulates fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen and elastin through controlled micro-injuries. These tiny punctures reach the dermis without destroying it. In response, the body’s natural healing processes are activated, promoting the development of new collagen and elastin.
Over time, the initial collagen fibres are replaced with stronger, longer-lasting collagen fibres.
Three key elements contribute to healthy, resilient skin:
Collagen:
A structural protein responsible for skin strength and firmness.
Elastin:
A protein that allows the skin to stretch and return to its original shape.
Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs):
Molecules that help retain moisture and keep the skin plump.
Microneedling supports this natural regenerative process without creating scar tissue.
Preparation: For your comfort, a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area prior to the procedure.
Post-treatment: Following your treatment, your skin will be covered with a layer of ASAP Soothing Gel and B Serum. Leave this on for four hours, then gently wash it off. You may reapply ASAP Soothing Gel as often as needed. Some mild redness or small red bruises may appear after treatment; in most cases, these resolve by the following day, and you can then return to your usual skincare routine. Drinking plenty of water will also support your healing process.
